The Ten Commandments at the Supreme Court

The high court is hearing arguments today in Van Orden v. Perry and McCreary County v. ACLU of Kentucky, cases testing the constitutionality of Ten Commandment displays in public places. The chances are good that justices will be glancing up at the Court's own chamber walls, where a frieze depicting Moses holding Hebrew-inscribed tablets resides — or that one or more lawyers before them will make reference to the frieze.
