Dynamic duo Donald Verrilli Jr. and Paul Smith, co-chairs of Jenner & Block's appellate and Supreme Court practice, may have gotten a drubbing at the Supreme Court last week. Both faced tough questioning from the justices in high-profile, pro bono, uphill battles against controversial state practices -- Kentucky's lethal-injection protocol and Indiana's tough voter ID law.
